Recipe for Fun: Baking Soc in Michaelmas Term

Attention to all Bakers! As the start of term gets closer, we thought it would be opportune to give you all a taste (pun intended) of some of the exciting things we have planned at Baking Society this Michaelmas Term! Our Exec have been busy planning bakes over the summer, combining some of our tried and tested favourites with some brand new bakes. We are making vegan lemon Viennese whirls in Week 2 and Christmas Tree Brownies in Week 9, two of our past popular bakes, as well as trying pretzels for the first time in Week 5 and Cornflake Tarts in Week 7, just to name a few. We can’t wait to try out some new recipes and look forward to seeing you enjoy them too. If you want to indulge in Baking Soc fun even more, don’t forget to check out our biweekly socials, organised by our lovely Social Secretary, Leah. In true Baking Society fashion, we will be watching the Great British Bake Off Final together, and snacks will of course be provided! Although we spend most of our time in Fylde Common Room, we will also be hosting ‘Baking Soc’s Big Night Out’ where we go to Sugar, the student nightclub. This social is a great way to have fun in town and get to know your new baking friends’ favourite dance moves and their signature cocktail or mocktail. Last year’s theme was ‘sparkles and glitter’. This year’s theme is pink and pending… Like many societies, we too end the term with a Christmas Meal- Leah does a great job at choosing somewhere with a good menu and a good price so that as many of our members can attend as possible. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate a term of baking, myself. There will be plenty more socials on campus, too, throughout the term.
