Meet the Exec!
We are your Baking Society Exec for 2022/23! We are in charge of running the weekly bakes and the socials but, most of all, making sure all of our members have a great time!
Kathryn (she/her) - President
Environmental Science -
Third Year
What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
I love tap and ballet and I am the campus and community officer for LUDanS!
Favourite thing to bake and why?
Battenberg - it’s so much fun making the different coloured sponges and wrapping it in marzipan!
Favourite Baking Society event?
The Christmas meal was my favourite event of the year as it was great to meet so many new people!!
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
I can’t think of anything (must’ve blocked out anything that went wrong:))

Liv (she/her) - Vice President
Law LLB - Second Year
What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
When I’m not baking, you’ll likely find me with my head in a book! I also love meeting up with my friends.
Favourite thing to bake and why?
A carrot cake is definitely a staple in my house and always goes down well with my family! Chocolate brownies are another favourite!
Favourite Baking Society event?
Meeting up for quiz night was a really enjoyable evening. Everyone is always so welcoming and friendly!
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
Focaccia bread is definitely not my strong point - I made a complete mess when I last attempted to make it!

What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
Drawing/painting, reading, travelling and making pretty porridge
Favourite thing to bake and why?
Mini lemon tarts - I’m guilty to fall for anything lemon flavoured

Christmas meal
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
Chocolate cake - turned into a rather unattractive mess, sunk in middle and icing wouldn’t hold…
Laura (she/her) - Treasurer

What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
I like playing netball and going on countryside walks - but only if there are snacks involved 😂
Favourite thing to bake and why?
Cinnamon rolls are the best!
Favourite Baking Society event?
Bingo was my favourite event because it was really chilled and I got to know lots of new people!
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
I tried making a multicoloured marble cake and all the colours mixed together while it was baking so it was just a grey cake in the end ðŸ˜

What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
I love playing games, going to concerts and travelling when I have the time :)
Favourite thing to bake and why?
My favourite thing to bake are either brownies because everyone loves brownies or cookies since they’re so easy to make!
Favourite Baking Society event?
My favourite baking soc event that I attended has got to be the one at Tipple when we had board games and cocktails!
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
Blondies. They were raw after being baked for so long, but so I baked them again when I got home and forgot about it. It ended up somewhat edible but not good for the teeth when cooled (was rock hard)…
Leah (she/her) - Social Secretary
History - Second Year
What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
I enjoy reading, particularly romance books but also fantasy. I like taking photos of the landscape and scenery when I'm out and about and I also enjoy visiting historical houses and museums.
Favourite thing to bake and why?
Anything with chocolate in - brownies, chocolate cake and chocolate chip shortbread, can't go wrong with a bit of chocolate!
Favourite Baking Society event?
The big night out to sugar - it was great to meet everyone outside of the Saturday bakes
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
Banana bread, I recently did it and the top burnt and it was raw in the middle, won't be attempting again!

Second Year
What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
I’m a big fan of watching movies and series. So I choose what I love for studying. And I feel cozy while standing on the mountain peak. Cause I’m cut off the rest of the world.

I get a sense of achievement while baking. And received the compliments from others, I’m pretty appreciate it .

Psychology - Second Year
What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
Cooking especially when it's new recipies! I also read, mostly thriller, but a bit of fantasy aswell. If im doing any task im usually listening to a podcast. It makes any task more enjoyable. Finally, i enjoy a walk or hike with friends, especially if we have packed a picnic.
Favourite thing to bake and why?
Cheesecakes! Because it rarely fails and I have made so many different flavours. Favourite at the moment is a strawberry lemon cheesecake.

Watching the bake off final as a society
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
Brownies because I put too much faith in the university ovens. Cooked for 2 hours and was still raw !! (The oven did get replaced after this 😅)
Isobel (she/her) - Social Media Admin
English Literature with Creative Writing - Second Year
What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
I play for my college’s netball team and I’m in the Harry Potter Society!
Favourite thing to bake and why?
It’s simple but I love baking a Victoria Sponge cake- can’t beat a classic!
Favourite Baking Society event?
My favourite baking Soc event last year was watching the Great British Bake Off final together because everyone was enjoying it and I’m excited for it again this upcoming year!
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
I made some gluten free Easter biscuits which were a disaster because they ended up being crumbs rather than actual biscuits- never again!
Vicky (she/her) - Social Media Manager

What do you enjoy doing (other than baking?)
I love reading and doing anything crafty. I also enjoy playing the keyboard
Favourite thing to bake and why?
NYC cookies are a staple for me. Big celebration cakes are also fun - I like having lots to do with a bake!
Favourite Baking Society event?
Making the Mickey Mouse cake pops was really fun - I don’t think mine ended up looking like Mickey but they tasted good!
Worst thing you’ve baked and why?
It sounds silly but simple things like Victoria Sponges always seem to go wrong for me! Also anything involving caramel - it will either never set or break your teeth!
