Hi bakers, and Happy Easter break! I hope you’re all having a restful recharge before heading into Summer Term. As I am sure most of you know, our Exec applications for 2024-25 are currently open, so I’ve asked our current Exec for their honest opinions on the benefits of joining. I can sincerely say that each of us are so pleased we decided to take the plunge and become Exec, and we have no doubt that the new Exec will feel the same.
One thing Vicky, our Social Media Manager, has loved about this year’s Exec is how we meet up at Pizzetta before our campus-run evening socials. I, too, can vouch for this. It’s so lovely to be part of a group who are genuine friends, and having a catch up as friends before working together as an Exec is always a laugh-filled time. Obviously next year’s Exec may do something totally different, but from our experiences, joining Baking Exec is a shoo-in for forming friendships. From a social media point of view, Vicky says she has lots of fun kindly persuading everyone to be in the TikToks, too, and we hope any of you out there with a vision for trending applies to fill her role!
As Social Sec, Leah has enjoyed creating fun events outside of baking where everyone can socialise more and expand the friendships being made at baking each week. The mixture of baking and non-baking activities means being on the Baking Exec has plenty of variety to it, and if you fancy planning cute, fun, and wholesome events, this is the role for you!
Being on Exec is a different part of the uni experience outside of studying, and Jen, one of our Baking Co-ordinators, says being on the Exec has been part of making her uni experience full rather than just degree focused. I am sure we all feel our work can be all-consuming at times, so having a place for something as fun as baking alongside the assignments is an ideal way of switching off from them and feeling part of a community.
Remember, if you have any questions about joining the Exec, just message us on our socials. Good luck to all who apply, and if you’re debating it, I hope this insight from our current Exec is helpful!
